On August 22-30, Ukraine will host the 2016 FAI World Space Models Championships for the first time.

300 competitors from 20 countries will descend on Lviv to compete for the World Title. During the 5 days of competition, visitors will be able to watch more than 1000 rocket launches, take part in technology workshops, hands-on classes for children, and outdoor activities.

Spacemodelling sport is a technical sport where participants compete in designing, fabricating and launching rocket models. In some events, competitors are even required to pilot their aircraft back to Earth (e.g. radio controlled models). The main criteria for evaluation are flight altitude, duration and landing accuracy. One of the most fascinating classes is the S7 – rocket scale replicas, where it is essential to create the detail and scale of real rockets.

On top of the main competition there will be contests for amateur enthusiasts:

- S2/P rockets carrying “space eggs” contest. Not only competitors of the Championships, but casual enthusiasts can also participate in the contest and try their hand to win the grand prize of 4 000 Euro. Detailed information is available here http://s2p.frms.ua/ .

- Copters Race for drone pilots.

We invite citizens and guests of Lviv Region to visit great festival where heated competition, educational workshops and outdoor activities will come together to create an unforgettable atmosphere. Let`s overcome gravity together!

Entrance to the Championships airfield is free. For more information on how to get to the airfield , the Championships Schedule and more details, check out the official website of the 2016 World Championships for Space Models http://worldrocket2016.frms.ua.
